COURSE DESCRIPTION:
PHE 130A. Fitness, Machine and Free Weight Training. Credit Hours: (1) Introduction to cardiorespiratory fitness, strength training exercises, and flexibility training.
Two lab.
COURSE CONTENT:
- The F.I.T. formula (Frequency, Intensity, Time)
- Training principles
- Safe exercise postures
- Cardio exercise, machien and free weight use
- Flexibility
- Exercise adherance
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Apply training principles to create individual exercise plan. (1,2)
- Use safe exercise postures to prevent injuries (3)
- Use cardio equipment, weight machines and/or free weights to maintain/improve strength and aerobic capacity.(4)
- Use stretching exercises to maintain/improve flexibility (5)
- Apply exercise adherence strategies for healthy lifestyle behaviors (6)
